The Find and Replace sidebar tool in Lilt Translate allows linguists to quickly locate phrases in the source text and target text of documents in a Project. This can be a useful tool for maintaining consistency across a Project. It also saves translators and reviewers time when replacing words or expressions that appear multiple times throughout a Project.
Access the Find and Replace tool by clicking the magnifying glass icon in the sidebar.
To find a word or phrase in a document or Project, enter at least one character in the search field and select any optional parameters for the search:
- Case-sensitive: If enabled, only searches for matches with the same case.
- Search across an entire Project: If enabled, searches through all the Project's documents you have access to. If not enabled, searches only in the current document.
- Whole words: If enabled, only searched for whole word matches. If not enabled, searches for partial word matches.
Find button to display a list of search results. The searched term is highlighted in the results. When a result is selected, the Lilt brings the document segment into focus.
When searching an entire Project, segment results are grouped under documents. This is an especially useful feature when replacing text, because you can make sure to only replace phrases within the desired documents.
Replace and replace all
For the replace options to become available, enter text into both the
Search word field and the
Replace field, then click the
Find button. You will see a list of segments results with the search phrase highlighted. You can now click the
Replace all button to replace the phrase across the entire document or Project, or you can click the
Replace buttons next to any segment results to replace the phrase in only those segments. Phrases are only replaced in unconfirmed, confirmed, and accepted segments. Phrases are not replaced in locked segments.
