# Manage Terminology with Assist

LILT Assist enables you to extract, organize, and maintain your brand’s technical terms and proprietary language through a conversational interface. By managing your terminology at the source, Assist ensures that your custom AI models and human reviewers remain consistent across every project and locale.

### Key Features

* **Automated Term Extraction:** Scan documents, websites, or technical manuals to instantly identify high-frequency terms and industry-specific shorthand.
* **Multilingual Glossary Building:** Generate term translations across multiple target languages simultaneously to build a unified global reference.
* **Interactive Review & Edit:** Refine extracted terms directly within the chat. Add definitions, approve suggested translations, or remove irrelevant entries.
* **Data Source Integration:** Automatically upload finalized termbases to your LILT Data Sources to enforce consistency in future translation and creation workflows.
* **Consistency Enforcement:** Ensure that your company’s specifically trained models always use your preferred brand language, reducing the need for manual corrections later.

### How to Use

1. To get started, use a prompt (e.g., *"I want to build a glossary"*) or click the <kbd>Generate termbase</kbd> card.
2. Tell the agent what content to analyze:
   * Click <kbd>+</kbd> to upload files (see [supported file formats](https://support.lilt.com/kb/supported-file-formats#supported-file-formats)).
   * Provide a link to a website or documentation page for the agent to crawl.
3. Identify which languages need translations (e.g., *“English to Spanish and Chinese”*).
4. Review the Agent’s proposed plan and confirm to begin.
5. Assist will present a list of identified terms and proposed translations. Review these directly in the chat interface.
6. Ask for changes to specific terms (e.g., *“Change the translation for 'Cloud Storage' to 'Almacenamiento en la nube'”*) or provide definitions for clarity.
7. Once satisfied, ask the agent to upload the glossary to your project’s Data Source for immediate use.

### Best Practices for Terminology Prompts

To build a precise and useful termbase, be clear and direct about the scope of the extraction. Avoid vague requests; instead, define the specific material and the intended outcome. Use these details to build a strong prompt:

* **Action:** What should the agent do? (*Extract, translate, update, check*)
* **Object:** What is the source material? (*PDF, URL, existing list*)
* **Parameters:** Which languages and how many terms? (*"Top 20 terms," "English to French"*)

### Quick-Start Prompts

**Extraction and Creation**

* *Analyze my product documentation to extract the top 25 technical terms and create a glossary in English, Spanish, and Chinese.*
* *Extract all product names and proprietary terms from this marketing whitepaper in German.*
* *Review this URL and identify all frequent technical terms to start a new termbase for our API documentation*

**Updating and Managing**

* *Add the term 'Scalable Architecture' to our existing Spanish glossary with the definition 'Arquitectura escalable'.*
* *This glossary looks good; please upload it to our 'Enterprise' data source for all future projects.*

### Sample Agent Interactions

```text theme={null}
User: "I want to create a glossary of technical terms for my software company"
Assist: "A glossary will help maintain consistency across all your translations. I can help you:
- Extract terms from your existing documents
- Create a structured glossary
- Translate terms to your target languages
What languages do you need, and do you have some sample documents I can analyze?"
User: "We need English, Spanish, and Chinese. I have some product documentation I can upload."
Assist: "I'll analyze your documentation to extract key technical terms and create a comprehensive glossary..."
```
