Overview

LILT offers a versatile quoting system to provide cost transparency before translation work begins.
  • Customers can access Instant quoting for processable file types, which automatically generates cost estimates based on word count and language pair pricing defined in their contract.
  • For more complex projects, Offline quoting allows customers to submit non-processable files and receive a quote prepared by LILT’s production team. These projects may include manual processing or text extraction.
    • Offline quoting is currently only available for non-processable file types. LILT is releasing an update in August 2025 to support Offline quoting for processable file types, where quotes need approval from stakeholders before work begins.
Both quoting methods support an approval workflow where customers can review and approve quotes before work begins. These features are particularly valuable for enterprises managing budgets across departments, organizations with tight spending controls, or when working with complex multimedia content that requires specialized handling like desktop publishing (DTP) or localization enginering. Quotes are displayed in the currency of a customer’s LILT contract. If a customer has multiple currencies on their contract, LILT has selected the primary currency for this data. LILT does not do any currency conversion. If you have any questions or are looking for access, please reach out to your LILT representative. Please note that all quotes are an estimate, and the final cost may vary.

Instant quoting

When to use the Instant quoting feature

When submitting a job for verified translation via any of the translation workflows, you can view the estimated quote before clicking the “Send for Translation” button. This feature is helpful when budgeting or when you need approval for translation costs.

How to get an Instant quote

  1. Navigate to the new translation page: Go to the LILT platform and start a new translation job.
  2. Select source and target languages: Choose the source language and one or more target languages for your translation.
  3. Upload your files: Upload the files you want to translate. LILT supports multiple file types and formats. You can upload multiple files at once.
    • Note: You can enter multiple languages and upload multiple files. The quoting feature will provide aggregated quotes for all languages and files. See screenshot below.
  4. View the Instant quote: Once you have selected the languages and uploaded the files, the system will automatically calculate the estimated quote based on the number of words and complexity. The quote will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
    • The estimated cost is calculated to mimic the process in billing. However, the estimate is for reference only, and the final cost may vary.
  5. Confirm and submit: After reviewing the quote, you can proceed by clicking “Send for Translation.” If any adjustments are needed, you can modify your file or language selection before submission.

Important notes

  • Language availability: Quotes will only be provided for languages that are part of your organization’s language agreement with LILT.
  • Estimated costs: The translation cost provided is a rough estimate and may vary depending on the final project details. Changes in word count, file types, and translation complexity may affect the final billing.

Offline quoting

When to use the Offline quoting feature

Some LILT customers need to be able to get quotes on projects and have stakeholders approve the quote before translation begins. These projects may include offline work, such as file pre-processing for unsupported file types, or require text extraction.

How to get an offline quote

  1. After uploading one (or more) files and filled in the job form, you can indicate as part of the job creation that you would like to receive an offline quote and submit for approval.
  2. Once created, the job will go to the “Awaiting quotation” state.

  3. At this point, the LILT team will assemble a quote. Once the quote is ready, the job transitions to an “Approval pending” state.

You will receive a notification in-platform and an email when the quote is ready for approval.

  1. You can download the detailed quotation (Excel or PDF) with a breakdown of your total costs (if provided).

  2. Approving the quotation will move the job from the “Approval pending” to the “Ready to start” stage. Rejecting the quotation will delete the job.

Important notes

  1. Offline quoting is currently only available for non-processable file types. LILT is releasing an update in August 2025 to support Offline quoting for processable file types, where quotes need approval from stakeholders before work begins.
