Translation Model Generations
LILT uses different model architectures depending on the language pair. Below is a breakdown of how these models function:LILT V3.0 & V3.5
Our highest-volume languages are currently served by V3.0 and V3.5 models.- Regional Groups: Our V3.0 models are trained in regional groups as opposed to single language pairs. V3.5 models are available for any two languages within each group.
- V3.5 Enhanced Models: V3.5 models use the context of the entire document to improve naturalness and terminology accuracy.
- V3.0 Standard Models: V3.0 models utilize Translation Memory and Termbases for accuracy but focus on sentence-level context.
- Editor Experience: V3.0 models produce a translation preview after the first five words are entered and update once the sentence is completed.
LILT V4.0
The V4.0 architecture is our most flexible model to date.- Broad Global Coverage: Our V4.0 models expand LILT’s coverage with support for 67 languages from diverse geographies.
- Any-to-Any Translation: Unlike previous generations of LILT models, V4.0 supports translation between any two V4.0 languages.
- Real-Time Feedback: In the LILT CAT editor used by translators and reviewers, V4.0 models provide a word-by-word preview as you type.
3rd Party Models
LILT can integrate 3rd party translation models. However, please note that only LILT-native models support our signature real-time training and adaptation. 3rd party model integrations can be configured with Amazon, Google, DeepL, and OpenAI. LILT, Amazon, and Google all offer fine tuning of their LLMs with parallel data. As your Data Sources within LILT grow, you can easily retrain your Models from these LLMs through LILT’s Model Builder interface on the Models page. Fine-tuning allows for improved translation with extra data from segments and terminology. Only LILT models allow for real-time training and adaptation.Human Verification & TM-Only Translation
- Human Verification: We offer human verification for all language combinations for which a LILT or 3rd party model exists.
- TM-Only Translation: LILT supports unlimited languages using Translation Memory (TM) only. If a bidirectional translation model does not exist, LILT can still offer human translation services, where translated content is stored in the Translation Memory. As the TM expands, LILT will provide translation suggestions to translators in the CAT tool for segments with matches above 75%, showing the best match available in the TM.

We add new AI-supported languages to the LILT Platform continuously based on three criteria:- Community and customer demand
- Availability of training data
- Baseline translation quality that is competitive with Google Translate and Microsoft Translator
LILT V3.0 and V3.5 Supported Languages
Our 3rd generation models (V3.0 and V3.5) are trained in groups as opposed to single language pairs. Our 3rd generation models can translate directly between any two languages within each group. If you need to translate between languages in different groups, contact LILT for more information. Languages marked with an asterisk (*) below will be supported with a V3.0 model.
